Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be a member of Archery Big Bucks of Missouri to score a whitetail for entry into ABBM?
It is not necessary for a measurer to be a member of Archery Big Bucks of Missouri in order to score a whitetail for entry in the club.  The measurer does, however have to be an official measurer of either P&Y, B&C, ABBM or SMBBC.

Someone harvested a whitetail with a crossbow.  Can it be entered in Archery Big Bucks of Missouri?
No, only whitetails taken by the Pope & Young
rules of fair chase can be entered into the Archery Big Bucks of Missouri records.

I've had my score sheets returned to be signed.  Why?
Score sheets that are not completely filled out can not be entered into the records.  The measurer must sign the score sheet and have his signature witnessed.  The owner of the rack cannot witness his own score sheet.

The person I scored for does not know the exact date of kill - can it be entered anyway?
No, score sheets that are not completely filled out can not be entered into the record book.  The date of kill field must include day, month and year.  If you do not have an older calendar, click here for a perpetual calendar.

How soon can I have my buck scored and entered into the book?
A "drying period" of at least 60 days is required before an animal can be officially measured.  It must be kept at room temperature during that time.  A rack left in the freezer will cannot be official measured until it has been out for 60 days.
After the 60-day drying period, there is no time limit to when a whitetail can be measured and entered into the records. We sometimes receive entries for animals that were harvested many years ago.

What is the deadline for entering a trophy in the book?|
The recording period runs from January 1 of one year to December 31 of the following year.  The recording period we are currently in runs from January 1, 2008 thru December 31 2009.  Any entries received on or before December 31 will be included in that recording period and the new record booklet.

What are the minimum scores for entry into Archery Big Bucks of Missouri?
Typical 115 - Non-typical 135

What does it cost to enter a trophy into the record book and where do I sent it?
The entry fee is $10.  It should be sent with the fully completed score sheet and trophy registration form to:
ABBM
119 North Street
Farmington, MO  63640

Do you require photographs to be submitted with an entry?
No, photographs are not required, however, if an appropriate photograph accompanies an entry it will be scanned, published on the web site and then returned to the hunter with his/her certificate.
Note:  Anyone sending us a photo implies permission to publish it on the web site.

Can I charge for my services?
